Italy 2014 - Part 9 - Some Friends: A Conclusion





Returning to Italy meant more than speaking Italian, eating and traveling.


It meant spending time with friends after too many years gone by...


 ...friends I met during my teaching days in Italy...


 ...and friends who made my time there an incredible one.


 Unfortunately, I didn't remember to get pictures of everyone...


 ...but I remember each one of them vividly in my heart...


 ...and hope to return to see them again...

 

 ...very, very soon.

 Cheese-stuffed Sicilian roll. Bresaola, cheeses and bread.

 Taste of gorgonzola and fig ice cream.


 Cup of Sicilian cream (candied fruit, pistachio, etc.) and strawberry meringue.


 Hazelnut cream coffee (I believe).

 Homemade ravioli in broth.


Orecchiette pasta with la mollica (toasted breadcrumbs ).


Eggplant parmigiano.


 Cheese-stuffed meatloaf.  Zucchini.  Potato.

 

 Fruit and pie (not pictured).

 Veronese dinner made by Anna - boiled meats accompanied by pearĂ  (sauce made with breadcrumbs, bone marrow, pepper, butter).

 Cheese-stuffed fried zucchini flowers.

 

 Fish and olives (and possible fish meatballs).

LUNCH - GALLARATE


 Gnocchi.


 Spinach-stuffed meatloaf.

DINNER - GALLARATE


 Stuffed eggplant.  Octopus salad.
